| mediterranean garden furnitureMonday, 25 February 2008 Using garden furniture to crate a mediterranean garden feelPeople gearing up for their summer holidays are being urged to bring a taste of the exotic to their own homes by giving their outdoor areas a Mediterranean feel.
The Journal states that UK residents can recreate their favourite holiday moments in their own back gardens with a lick of paint and natural materials.
Citing the author of Mediterranean Modern, Dominic Bradbury, the publication states that traditionally, Mediterranean culture is "suffused with simplicity".
Interior designer John Stefanidis told the publication that a good way to create a Mediterranean feel is to use stone or rustic wooden flooring inside the home and carry the theme through to the outside.
"For authentic Mediterranean entertaining update your outdoor furniture by adding a lick of blue or white paint, and to complement, add white or pale blue walls or even white with ochre," the designer added.
The Post-Bulletin reports that teak and wrought iron are both good, sturdy materials with which to make garden furniture as they do not rot or rust.
